I’m excited to share a milestone in my open-source journey — I made my very first contribution to the WordPress Polyglots Team!

For a long time, I wanted to give back to the WordPress community, but I wasn’t sure where to start. I don’t consider myself a core developer, so contributing code felt a bit intimidating. That’s when I discovered the Polyglots team — the group responsible for translating WordPress and its ecosystem into different languages. It felt like the perfect way to contribute using a skill I already had.

For my first contribution, I translated parts of two very popular WordPress themes: Kadence and Astra. Both themes are widely used by website creators around the world, and helping make them more accessible to non-English users felt incredibly meaningful. Every translated string helps users better understand settings, features, and options while building their websites.

The process itself was a great learning experience. I explored translation tools, followed WordPress glossary guidelines, and paid attention to context so that each translation would sound natural and clear. It made me realize that translation isn’t just about language — it’s about user experience.

What I love most is knowing that my small effort can help thousands of users navigate themes more comfortably in their own language. That feeling is truly rewarding.

This is just the beginning of my journey with open source. I’m looking forward to contributing more translations — and maybe even beyond translation in the future. If you’re thinking about contributing to WordPress but don’t know how, the Polyglots team is a great place to start.
